You can simply mute it within the Sonos app. What we're trying to say is that, while you do have to have one of those newer Sonos trio in the AirPlay group, you don't actually need to have it 'playing' music. Maybe we're doing a lot of presuming here to get to the point. Maybe you've got a couple of HomePods set up in the living room and you want to up the volume by adding in a PlayBar, but you don't want that pesky Play:5 playing music in the dining room. the one that is AirPlay 2 compatible – you'll then notice that all the other speakers you previously grouped will be pumping out the tunes once you hit play.īut maybe you don't want that Play:5, One or Beam to be playing back as part of the same group as your other non-Sonos AirPlay speakers.
